Cervical Screening: Why It Matters for Southport and Formby

Cervical screening is a simple way to check for early signs of cervical cancer. It can help stop serious health problems before they start. If you live in Southport or Formby, the 7-Day GP makes it easy to book an appointment, with lots of times available.

Why Do You Need a Cervical Screening?

Cervical cancer doesn’t always show symptoms early on, which is why regular screening is so important. It can spot changes in the cervix before they turn into cancer. This means screening can save lives.

If you’re aged 25-49, you’ll be invited every three years. If you’re 50-64, it’s every five years. If you’ve had a reminder, now’s the time to book.

What Happens During the Test?

We know some people feel nervous, but the test is quick, simple, and safe. A nurse will take a small sample of cells from your cervix. This only takes a few minutes. It might feel a little uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t hurt.

If you’re worried, talk to your nurse or GP - they’ll make sure you feel at ease.
