Southport and Formby Primary Care Network (PCN) is proud to announce its selection as a finalist for the esteemed HSJ Digital Awards 2024, in the category of "Improving Primary Care through Digital." This recognition marks a significant milestone in the ongoing journey of digital transformation within the PCN.

The nomination underscores the dedication and innovation exhibited by the PCN's digital transformation team, particularly in their project aimed at enhancing access to primary care services through the transformation of GP websites.

In collaboration with IT partners, Informatics Merseyside, the team diligently researched, developed, and deployed new websites for GP Practices across Southport and Formby, aligned with the NHS England look and feel.

The priority of the GP website transformation project was to enhance user-friendliness and accessibility, empowering patients to conduct essential tasks such as appointment bookings and prescription requests online. This proactive approach not only lightens the burden on GP practices but also mitigates the common bottleneck experienced during peak hours.

The inclusion of Southport and Formby PCN as finalists in the HSJ Digital Awards serves as a testament to the effectiveness and impact of their GP website transformation initiative. Notably, this project has gained recognition from NHS England's Primary Care Transformation Team, positioning it as a flagship website transformation project and showcasing it to PCNs across England. Furthermore, the template created through this project has been embraced by practices within South Sefton PCN and various PCNs across Liverpool, highlighting its scalability and replicability.
