The 7-Day GP Service is FIVE!
The award winning 7-Day GP Service for Southport and Formby turned five on the 1st October 2023 and is celebrating its 5th anniversary during October.
The service, run by Southport and Formby Health on behalf of Southport and Formby Primary Care Network provides extended hours appointments in evenings and at weekends.
Based at 107 Liverpool Road in Birkdale, the 7-Day GP Service and has received some fantastic feedback from patients. In fact, 97% of people who used the service said they would recommend it to a friend or family member.
The 7-Day GP Service has grown considerably since it started in October 2018 and now includes a physiotherapist and a mental health practitioner on top of its team of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and practice nurses, providing 2000 appointments per month!
The service also won a Patient Experience Network National Award (PENNA) in September for Measuring, Reporting and Acting to improve patient experience.
Dr Abdul Zubairu, Medical Director at Southport and Formby Health commented ‘The service has gone from strength to strength over that last five years providing additional access to primary care at a time that may be more convenient patients. The service also alleviates some of the pressures on local practices by providing additional capacity’.
Our 7-Day GP Service is available to anyone who is registered with a GP in the Southport and Formby area and offers a range of routine appointments.
Appointments that can be booked with the service include:
- GP consultations
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner consultations
- Routine health checks
- Blood tests
- ECGs
- Ear Syringing
- Cervical Screening
